Grocery store firm Pattison Food Group is updating its Langley, B.C. grocery distribution centre with new automated technology from Dematic.
The 485,000-square-foot grocery warehouse will deploy advanced automation technologies intended to improve fulfillment efficiency, increase capacity and support scalable grocery operations across Western Canada, according to a Dematic press release.
“Dematic’s strength extends beyond automation to a deep understanding of the operational realities shaping modern grocery fulfillment,” Mike Olson, senior vice-president of supply chain and wholesale at Langley, B.C.-based Pattison Food Group said in a press release.
“That expertise helped us build a scalable, intelligent operation that improves performance today while supporting the flexibility needed for future growth.”
Will improve fulfillment for Pattison grocery chain
Atlanta-based Dematic developed the automated system to reduce manual handling, enhance order accuracy and increase fulfillment agility to meet evolving consumer demand, the firm said.
The facility will include advanced automation technologies that will:
- Improve warehouse orchestration;
- Increase high-density grocery storage capacity;
- Support efficient split-case and full-case fulfillment for approximately 11,000 grocery SKUs through 16 goods-to-person workstations;
- Increase throughput and fulfillment efficiency;
- Improve operational efficiency; and
- Maximize system uptime and ongoing operational support.
